“Sabri Yalim Park is my job” – zgür Kocaeli Newspaper

Dear Reader, I wrote in this column that it would be much more valuable for the city of Izmit to consider this area as “City Square” instead of constructing a school building on the site of the Izmit Imam Hatip High School building which was destroyed in this column. …

The theme of my post was:
“Izmit is a city that is becoming more and more crowded, shallow and sparsely populated. The general population of the city is about 5 lakhs. The city center alone has a population of up to 1 million during the day. The number of squares and parks in the city center is very small. These are not enough. New area of the city, square needed. Kokeli State Hospital, known as the new development area of Izmit, and its surroundings are heavily crowded during the day. The number of people coming and going to the hospital every day alone has exceeded 10,000. The demolition of the Imam Hatip High School building on the opposite side of the hospital caused widespread unrest in the area where the building was located. There was a distinct relief in the area. In the same area, demolition was also planned for Mima Sinan Anatolian High School and Santral Health Center. These buildings will be demolished from next month … “ I wrote …

This area “Square in the cityI wrote an article that can be considered as …

The article has been very well received by readers. They say that it would be more accurate to consider the existing area as a square …

Going against my proposalWhat is your problem with Imam Hatip School?”Appeared to readers who commented.
I respect their opinion, but I don’t think these readers understand me or think about the future of the city. They have dealt with the problem with their superstitions …

One of my loyal readers who called for the article was the former mayor of Saraibahi Town and the former mayor of Izmit Metropolitan Municipality. Wisdom Erenka Was …

Erenkaya, who analyzed Izmit through the eyes of an architect, said he liked the proposal and the article and commented on it:

This place used to be a cemetery

The area where the Imam Hatip High School Building, Mimar Sinan Anatolian High School and the Central Health Center are located was used as a cemetery. That year the administrators removed the cemetery at great risk, leaving the area open for construction. A school building has been constructed, a health center building has been constructed. Izmit is now much more crowded, the city needs a new square to breathe. Following the destruction of the IHL, I met with senior executives of the metropolitan municipality. I am not against Imam Hatip High School, but I said that the school building would be much more suitable to be built outside the city. He told me, ‘It was decided to build a new school building in the same place when the building was demolished. “There could be trouble if we reverse the decision,” they said.

Sabri Yalim Park is my job

Managers need to take risks for the benefit of the city. As long as you take risks, you will create very positive projects for the future of the city.
See, I was the former mayor of Saraybahce Town in 1994. The Tekel building burned down in 1993. Burnt pictures of the building remain for about a year after the fire was extinguished. The then exclusive ministry had allocated 1 lakh 200 thousand TL for the repair of burnt buildings. When I was elected former mayor of Saraybahce in 1994, parties came to my office to give me a building repair license. Burnt building repair permit not issued. They tried hard to get my license. One week after the meeting, Sadetin Tantan, the then Minister of the Interior, called from Sapanka. We were meeting with Mr. Tantan. He told me on the phone, “Wisdom Bay, you don’t give a building permit. This is serious. They can fire you, I can’t do anything about it … “he said. I told him, Minister, I will not give license for this building. We turned off the phone. At the time, when the ANAP was in power, Sefer XC was Kokley’s deputy. I talked to Sefer Bey. I told him I would not license the building and that the building would have to be demolished. Sefer Bay helped me and informed the then Prime Minister Mesut Ilmaz about the situation.
That’s what I said. I did not issue a repair permit. To demolish the building, I gave an area of the present bus station area to Tekel in exchange for the then Tekel building plot, and we handed over the location of the burnt building to the municipality. After this process, I demolished the burning tequila building. We have turned the destroyed building into a park. I named it after Sabri Yalim, a gentleman from the city who died in the 1999 earthquake. Sabri Yalim Park is my job. If I had feared Sadetin Tantan’s words that day, they would have fired you and licensed the rest of the building, Sabri Yalim Park would not exist today. Not only that. We all know the old condition of Ankara Street. It was an area where iron and construction materials were sold. I have removed that too. That road is a great place today. I drove out of the galleries site and military housing out of town. I removed the Jupiter Market on Alemdar Street. Think about what we did with the marketers in those days. I took the risk and I did it. Sabri Yalim Park is the only place where you can breathe in the center of Izmit today. ”

In my opinion, the position and attitude of Hikmet Erenkaya should be a lesson for today’s local administrators. Everything is so clear …

The local administrator must take the risk …

“When the Imam Hatip High School building was demolished, it was decided to build a new school building on the same site. If we reverse this decision, there will be problems ”, how much future a local administrator can carry or prepare for the city (!)

Preparing cities for the future is a matter of foresight and vision …

My words are for today’s city administrators and bureaucrats. Build Imam Hatip High School in the same place. Demolish Mimar Sinan High School and the Central Health Center, which will be demolished, and open this place for construction; Shallow the city again, drown (!)
