‘Monkey Flower’ Calls to Health Ministry from TTB: ‘Plan Your Action’

Dr. Nasir Nesani, a member of the TTB Epidemic Working Group, issued a statement on the monkeypox disease, which has spread to four continents besides Africa. Nesanir made the following assessments:

“Monkeypox is not a new virus, it was first detected among humans in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1970. The concern for a virus that we have known for more than 50 years is that it has grown and spread to four outside continents. From this African perspective, There is no need to panic; the government and the Ministry of Health need to panic.

“Zoonotic viruses are always at risk of becoming epidemics.”

The incubation period of the virus is 5-13 days, sometimes 21 days, after which the symptoms of the first period are mostly fever, weakness, discomfort, pain in neck, muscles and joints. During the first 5 days, the lymph nodes become individually swollen and in the subsequent process, one or two days after the onset of the fever, skin rashes appear on the face, arms, legs, palate and soles. There are hundreds of rashes, just a few in one person. According to country data, we can say that two out of every 100 people die from monkeypox. Covid-19, monkeypox, HIV virus, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever disease, these are all zoonotic. If humans cannot control their relationship with ecosystems and nature, thousands of pathogenic viruses remain, which sometimes turn into epidemics, sometimes not, but we always feel this risk.

“Without panic …”

In monkeypox disease, which is transmitted from animals to humans, most rats are at the forefront of the infection. It is transmitted through contact with human blood, animal fluids, or human contact with a virus. Human-to-human transmission is not very common. In this case, it is the responsibility of the health minister to file a case. Belgium, for example, has announced that it will apply 3-week quarantine for detected cases. In other words, you need to prepare your laboratory for this, have vaccines, have medicines used in treatment, although they do not cure completely. Don’t panic, you need to inform the public and health workers about the disease. When you do these things, you almost never see the cases in your country.

“In most cases, people are not vaccinated with the flower vaccine.”

Monkey pox is a relative of smallpox. The last case of smallpox in the world was reported in 1977. Since we vaccinated against smallpox until 1980, it protects us from 80-85 percent of monkeypox. Since smallpox has not been vaccinated for more than 40 years, most cases are between the ages of 40-50, i.e., those who have not been vaccinated against smallpox. In 2019, a vaccine specific to monkeypox was also developed, and its strain (strain: a subtype of the virus) was detected at the Rafik Saidam Hygiene Institute, which was shut down by the government, the Ankara strain.

When you are ready, you will reduce

According to official figures, more than 15 million people were infected with Covid-19, about 100,000 died, we know that 2.5 times the actual figure, you lost thousands, thousands of citizens, it shows that you are not ready for the epidemic. In the process, the health workers were very worn out; About 550 health workers have died, and hundreds have been hospitalized in intensive care units. Okay, this may not be the case in our country, but it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Health to share with the public what kind of action you will take considering the possibility of an epidemic related to this disease. A small epidemic without panicking the society. If necessary, a competent organization, TTB, health organization should be called and a general action plan should be published. If you are prepared, you will reduce deaths due to epidemics, hospitalization and admission to the intensive care unit.

Of course, we know that human-to-human transmission of monkeypox is not through rapid communication, but we want to be prepared. Seeing something that was previously confined to four different continents on the African continent and not being able to connect them to each other raises a question mark for me. I wonder if the disease is silent or if the virus has gone through a mutation and overcame the difficulty of person-to-person transmission? This question needs to be answered, and so far you have to take the necessary precautions and be prepared.

Nesani’s health minister, Fahretin Kokar, also commented on the following:

“We can say that we are moving towards COVID-19 endemic”

“It is fair to say that we have now moved from epidemic to epidemic; Think of a flu infection. I mean local, with a mild course in summer, a severe course in autumn and winter, and even in some years, the flu season is more severe than the previous season. We can say that we have moved from the Covid-19 epidemic to the Covid-19 epidemic at this stage. Although this is a local return, there are some issues that need to be addressed before autumn and winter. More than 95 percent of deaths worldwide are either unvaccinated or not given low doses. If there is a local relocation, you will need to provide a full dose of the vaccine, especially for those at risk who have lower doses for autumn preparations. Because we know that antibody levels decrease and disappear over time, new mutations may appear before us. Vaccination is the most important thing to spend next autumn and winter comfortably. It should be ensured that they are vaccinated so that not a single person dies.

“If the number of cases is really less than a thousand every day …”

When the number of daily cases is below one thousand, you can relax the system, but they have to provide us with evidence. During the epidemic, they ignored thousands of cases every day, we also know that they identified it themselves, but they ignored both lawsuits and deaths. If the number of daily cases is really less than a thousand, then their data should be shared with the public in terms of person, place and time. What is their age and gender? Where did they catch the virus, on public transport, in the hospital, on the plane? A detailed analysis of the data of the last 3-4 months is required. Masks should be compulsory in hospitals, air travel, adult care centers and private care centers. As you enter the summer season, ventilation is easier, if the number of cases per day is less than one thousand and schools are not a source of pollution, you can bring freedom to wear masks here. ”
