What does aloe vera juice do?

Aloe vera is a succulent plant of the genus Aloe. It grows abundantly in tropical climates and has been used as a medicinal herb for centuries. Aloe vera juice is a sticky, thick liquid made from the pulp of aloe vera leaves. We’ve compiled the potential health benefits of aloe vera for you when consumed as water or in other ways.

Aloe vera plants are thought to have anti-inflammatory properties. This is why many people use it to relieve certain skin conditions such as burns and sores.

Antioxidants help protect your body from damage caused by free radicals, also known as oxidative stress. Studies have shown that chronic oxidative stress can increase the risk of certain health conditions, including heart disease and even some cancers. However, there are currently no studies that show that aloe vera juice has a direct effect on the body.

Aloe vera is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties, making it a potential treatment for burns and other skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis.

Aloe vera has many health benefits, especially when applied topically instead of as a beverage. However, there are limited studies on oral aloe vera supplements.

One study found that taking 40 mcg of aloe sterol daily for 12 weeks improved skin elasticity in a group of men under 46 years of age.

Similarly, another study suggested that eating aloe vera increased collagen production and reduced the presence of wrinkles in a group of women over 40 years of age.

It should be noted that in both of these studies, aloe vera was eaten as a supplement, not as water. In addition, while these studies are promising, they are not conclusive and suggest that further human testing is necessary.

Older research shows that both aloe vera gel and juice can lower blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. In contrast, two other separate reviews suggest that drinking aloe vera juice does not improve fasting blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Another study found that aloe vera juice improves both blood sugar and blood fatty acid levels in people with pre-diabetes. While this may seem promising, research is limited. Larger, randomized, and controlled studies are needed to confirm the relationship between aloe vera juice and blood sugar control. Also, aloe vera extract supplements are not yet considered a safe alternative treatment for diabetes.

Aloe vera juice contains anthraquinone glycosides. They can also be referred to as plant compounds with laxative effects that can help relieve constipation. However, although research on this topic is quite old, the safety of using aloe vera juice for the treatment of constipation is also unknown.

In 2002, the FDA no longer made aloe vera laxatives suitable for over-the-counter markets because they were not tested to ensure their safety and effectiveness.

While some studies suggest that aloe vera syrup may help treat and reduce GERD symptoms, other studies indicate that the use of aloe vera extract for the treatment of IBS has shown promising results.

As a result, aloe vera may have digestive benefits, but not enough research has been done to demonstrate the safety or dosage of its use for this purpose.

Oral submucous fibrosis, a chronic condition that causes pain and inflammation in the mouth in a study of 74 people, found that 30 ml of aloe vera juice taken twice daily for 3 months is just as effective as traditional treatments such as hydrocortisone injections.

Another study found that in people with head and neck cancer, aloe vera mouthwash effectively reduced the severity and pain associated with oral mucositis, a common side effect of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

It has also been suggested that aloe vera mouthwash may reduce tooth decay and help control pain and swelling after oral surgery.

Although long-term data is needed, these studies show that aloe vera juice may offer alternative approaches to the treatment of certain tooth and mouth diseases.
